Hi,

It would be great to have a rope / chain tool with non-destructive workflow.

It should come with some preset models of ropes / chains, but as LWCad allows, create our own too.

For ropes, it could be interesting to be able to specify the number of strands and bundles, rotation, ...

Hello Sigurd.
In Modeler it is technically not possible to make non-desctructive objects. It converts everything to polygons.
So you need to wait until we port LwCad into Layout.
But we can create destructive version for Modeler!

Any timeframe on a LwCad port for Layout? This would be so interesting!

I really don't know. We are waiting for some new information about new sdk for LightWave.

We'll start porting to Layout as soon as i'll be 100% sure that NT will not make any radical changes in Layout sdk.

Untill then we are forced to live with limited Modeler

Not to derail the topic of lwcad having a rope tool. There is a really nice tool available for modeler called rope editor plus. I have used it on several occasions and it works great! It is destructive per say...but ya can save your 2point poly chain to reuse it to generate ropes fast.
